Week Without Violence

The YWCA Week Without Violence is an annual worldwide campaign to stop violence in all its forms. Between October 10th and October 16th 2010, the YWCA Moncton is offering a week-long series of community events promoting diverse approaches to creating a violence-free world.

Activities:

Lunch & Learns

Awareness booths will be held in four high schools to raise awareness on healthy and unhealthy relationships amongst teenagers.

Tuesday, October 12th: Moncton High School

Wednesday, October 13th: Harrison Trimble High School

Thursday, October 14th: École Louis-J.-Robichaud

Friday, October 15th: École l’Odyssée

Silent Witnesses Event (YWCA Open House)

To honour the New-Brunswick women who were murdered by an intimate partner, the YWCA will be hosting the Silent Witnesses Silhouettes, which consists of life-size red silhouettes of these women. These women have powerful stories and their voices deserve to be heard. Bring a friend and join the YWCA as we reflect on these women’s lives and take time to Imagine A Week Without Violence.

Time: 4:00 – 7:00pm

Location: YWCA – 35 Highfield st.

Certificates of appreciation

Certificates will be delivered throughout the week in recognition of the time and effort agencies put towards the elimination of family violence.
