Legal Advice Services

Resource Centre

The YWCA’s Resource Centre includes information relating to Family Law, Criminal Law, and the rights of youth. The Centre is also equipped with a computer for free public use.

Family Law Information Sessions

Family Law Information Sessions are small-group sessions in which local lawyers address common Family Law (separation, divorce, custody, support, access, etc.) questions and concerns, and support participants in understanding their rights and responsibilities in the context of separation and divorce. Sessions are offered 2 times per month and are open to both women and men. There is a $5 fee, which can be waived if necessary.

Family Law Advice Clinics

Family Law Advice Clinics offer free 30 minute appointments in which volunteer lawyers meet one-on-one with clients and give advice on Family Law matters. The lawyer will provide legal consultation, free of charge. No legal work will be performed (no phone calls, no paper work, no court representation etc.); the lawyer will only answer questions and give advice. The clinic is for women and men who have limited financial resources and who have not hired or consulted with a lawyer and who have not have legal representation for their issue.

Please contact our office to register for a Family Law Information Session or Family Law Advice Clinic.
