Financial Literacy & Baby $teps

Financial Literacy

Financial Literacy is an ongoing program designed to assist women in becoming economically empowered through awareness, education, and support. Our program uses a practical, everyday approach to making the most of money. Based on the SEDI (Social Enterprise Development Innovation) curriculum, this program walks participants through the topics of: Exploring our Relationship with Money, Budgeting, Savings, Banking, Consumerism, Credit / credit Cards, Debt, Credit Bureau/Credit Scores, and Investing Basics. Contact our office to find out when the next session is taking place or to request one for your group or organization!

Baby $teps

Baby$teps is an education savings initiative supported by the Government of Canada and delivered by YWCA Moncton in partnership with YWCA Halifax. Baby$teps will help you save for your child’s post-secondary education and access the many benefits available in Registered Education Savings Plans (RESPs) through education savings incentives, such as free grants of $500. You can contact our office to set up an appointment with our Baby$teps program manager, Heather Richards (506-855-4349 or hrichards@ywcamoncton.com) ) or to see when we’re planning an event in a community near you! Baby$teps events will offer you information, education, and personalized guidance in:

-banking, budgeting, and saving
-information on RESPs, Canada Education Savings Grants, and Canada Learning Bonds
-obtaining necessary paperwork (birth certificates and Social Insurance Numbers) and setting up bank accounts!
